Op.1 - Choral Symphony with verse from Liturgy

released: April 30th 2009 on One Eyed Magician (OEMGT-201002) (gradual release)

This manuscript is a gradual release in similar fashion to Bionique. However this album or 'work' is completely different as it is a classical composition and so it can only be presented in manuscript at the moment (maybe someday I could get it recorded), so if you can appreciate sheet music then you may like reading this score.

When I set about writing this piece in Northumberland I had no audible references as my guitar was at home so I was writing blind, and the curious thing is I know enough rules about notation to write music but I am not proficient enough to sight-read so I could only make rough guesses in overall timbre and feel. Maybe this shows in the work but this is my first fray into the wonderful world of classical and I hope many more will come. At some point I think I will write a guitar sonata...

The music is simply a symphonic piece with a full orchestra and SATB choir, the choir sings verses from liturgy and the orchestra provides a basis upon which the words are set. The Liturgy is taken from the Proper Catholic Mass so the lyrics are in latin for added interest... enjoy.

Unlike Bionique the tracks will not be in audio format but instead released as a PDF containing the full orchestral manuscript. There will be eight movements in total and you can find them listed below.

More Info On This Release: Op.1 is scored for a full orchestra featuring: Double-Bass, Cello, Viola, Violin, Organ, Harp, Horns in F, Bassoon, Contra-Bassoon, Oboe, English Horn and SATB Choir.

Notes:As this is my first attempt at writing a full classical piece feel free to make suggestions for corrections and alterations if you see anything out of place. I have taken the range for the instruments from an online musical dictionary, so if any of the notes seem beyond the norm (your a horn player and your horn in F cant reach that C6!) let me know, i would love the feedback.

This score will be available as a PDF: Once the score is completed you will be able to download the full concert score to view in Adobe Reader, however any further distrubution is strictly prohibited and follows all copyright law as set out in the creative commons license.
