Lets see a brief history... Well I was born in Bristol (UK) in June 1990 and Bristol is still where I reside now. I was never into music really, or at least not on purpose which is perhaps the best way to be (music should grab and not let you go no-matter your intentions). I was educated and gained a fair amount of GCSE's and a few A-Level's and it was only around the time of my fithteenth birthday that I started to take a liking to music. It was Pink Floyd's Darkside of the moon that caught my eye though not immediatly and this led into a non-stop adventure in which I discovered my own taste in music. After a while I had a creative yearning to make music of my own and like the music I listened to I wanted it to be large thought out concepts and deep interesting music, after two years of learning guitar this started to materialise through very basic recording methods in comparrison to what I do now.
The music born of these attempts was put into the first two pieces I made: 'Ancient Imagery' and 'Elementum'. These two can be heard on last.fm (see albums page for info). After this I wanted to start experimenting with post-production and this led me onto ambient music as a side project. 'Amiens' was the result of these experiments, a dark drone based piece and begining of the 'Chameleonic Wolf' series. The continuation of these daring-do's into sound and texture can now be heard on the 'Celestial' album.
Some people have asked what equipment I use and how I record it all so here it is in a nutshell... ready...
The instruments I use are the following: Ibanez RG1527RB, Stratocaster (partialy Fender), PRS SE Soapbar II Maple, Fender Precision Bass, Handbuilt Sonorus One (fretless bass), Ashland by Crafter SD80CENT, Stagg M50E Mandolin, An Old Almeria Classical Guitar and an Oxygen 49e MIDI Controller. All these are fed into the Zoom G9.2tt and output in Stereo to the EMU 0404 PCI card that is installed on my HP Pavillion sometimes I run a mono output through my Marshall MG30DFX and then into the PC. All these signals are then passed into FL Studio where the mix is made and the drums are carefully programmed along with the track. This is then exported into High-def 24-bit resoulotion audio WAV's before being archived, then the WAV's are compressed into lossy MP3 format for general consumption.
I have tried to make it as easy as possible to make my music available for all listeners, and the esiest way to find my music and download it is through Last.FM, If you see this blue tab appear (left)
on an album page you can download it directly from Last.FM to your computer and listen away. If you want to order a CD head over to the mail-order page. If any special exceptions pop-up like 'Bionique' or 'Op.1', all the relevant info can be found about it on the albums page in the discography.
What Instruments do you use?
The instruments I use are the following: Ibanez RG1527RB, Stratocaster (partialy Fender), PRS SE Soapbar II Maple, Fender Precision Bass, Handbuilt Sonorus One (fretless bass), Ashland by Crafter SD80CENT, Stagg M50E Mandolin, An Old Almeria Classical Guitar and an Oxygen 49e MIDI Controller.
What software do you use?
FL Studio by Image Line for recording, mixing and mastering. Sibelius for composing lengthy pieces (Op.1)
How long have you been playing guitar?
Since I was 15 years old, (I originally only wanted to play bass but couldn't resist two extra strings (or three!))
Are you in a band?
No, not at the moment, I mainly enjoy working on my pieces as a single vision, but I welcome the idea of a collaboration, and you can hear an improvised guitar piece by my good friend Matt Jackson on the album 'Celestial' on the track 'Drift'.
Do you design the artwork?
Yes. I take all the photos (unless stated) and put all the graphics together myself. This is done through my little publisher 'One Eyed Magician'
Have you ever been asked to write music for someone?
Yes. The most recent example would be an advert for a local gym and a company called Sarafan Sports, they wanted a hard rock track to go with their workout video so I created a three minuite riffage fiasco and they liked it (you can hear the 'Sarafan' track on the workout-video here (The track in the video was speeded up for added effect, to hear the original click here))
And not to long ago I was asked to provide some music for a schools art exhibition. It was never used though because the school jazz band used the exhibition to publicise aswell, but the music could be made available soon.

Whats a Handbuilt Sonorus One (fretless bass)?
The Sonorus is a fretless bass I built with the help of my father, it was hand shaped from a block of alder for the body, it has a quarter-sawn maple neck with zebrano fretboard and EMG active pickups, the scale length is 34.5" and it has the highest action in the world but makes a good sound, you can hear it on the Bionique album.
Whats with the weird ambient stuff?
Ambient music is something I like to create when I dont want anything as defined or rigid as my other works, and I am a big fan of ambient music (Bass Communion, Altus, Robert Rich, Brian Eno, Steve Roach, Lustmord and Atrium Carceri to name afew). I also like to use it as an excercise in post-production as it requires alot more concentration to master an ambient piece and as you can probably tell from my early ambient demo 'Amiens I' that I am still learning about the genre, but I was very happy with 'Celestial', I create ambient music as a vent for my curiosity.
